What Do You Do When Faced with a DECIDING MOMENT?

 

When faced with the old proverbial fork in the road …

What do you do?

What do you do when you have a deciding moment in life?

Do you walk the known path (familiar, safe and limited)?

Or do you walk the unknown path (unfamiliar, scary, and unlimited)?

What if you knew, in a deep guttural kind of way, in walking the unknown path…there would be no going back.

Life as you know it – gone forever.

As unsettling as the thought is …you’re pulled.

Like a dog that’s been fenced in for way too long – you’re pulled to break out of your well set perimeters.

Friend, I’ve been pulled!

A few days ago I had a deciding moment.

A life-changing moment, a moment of no going back. I felt like I was being put through one of those old clothes wringers. You know the kind that squeezes the clothes flat.

WHEW! Not a comfortable feeling.

But after much meditation and prayer, deep breathing, soul-searching, and pacing…I did it!

I took the road less traveled.

Stepping into the unknown with both feet, I find an unexpected aspect of myself surfacing. A brighter, bolder, braver, more expanded version of me.

I have a sense of suddenly being bigger.

Life feels grander!

I find myself wanting to shout from the rooftops to everyone:

• Go ahead do it!
• Step into the unknown.
• Enter your fears, doubts, and limitations, and bring them down to size.
• Bust out of your preconceived notions of who you believe you are.
• Do whatever it takes to walk the unknown path – the unlimited path.

As Yogi Berra, famed New York Yankees player and manager said, “When you get to the fork in the road, take it.”
